General

When is the shop open?

The shop is open every day between 11 am and 5 pm.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay using the following methods: Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Ideal and Amex.

Is the brewery accessible to people in wheelchairs?

Only the terrace and the gift shop are at street level. To reach the restaurant, you must take 8 steps. The tour is not accessible, there are 220 steps and due to the old building, it is not possible to make the necessary adjustments.

Where can I park my car?

We don’t have our own parking, but there are several parking facilities in the neighbourhood:

  • Site Oud Sint-Jan in Zonnekemeers (200m from the brewery)

  • Interparking Katelijne in the Katelijnestraat (next to the Novotel)

  • Interparking Station (10 minutes' walk)

Is there free Wi-Fi available?

There is Wi-Fi access. You can connect to the network HalveMaanfreeWifi; no password is required.

Visit

Is it possible to book a guided tour in a language other than the standard languages (Dutch, French, English)?

Only for private guided tours can a German speaking guide be requested in advance.

Are dogs allowed on the tour?

It’s not possible to take dogs on a guided tour, but they are welcome inside our brasserie.

Do you organise private tours?

Private guided tours are possible by request via the email address info@halvemaan.be.

Can I buy beer after my visit?

You can buy the various beers in the giftshop, as well as souvenirs.

Can I modify my reservation for the tour?

Your tickets can be modified free of charge up to 48 hours in advance.

Can I cancel my tickets for the tour?

You can cancel your tickets up to 48 hours in advance. Please note that there is an admin fee of € 10 per refund.

What’s the difference between the classic tour and the XL tour?

The XL tour is the same as the standard tour, but it includes a tasting session of three different speciality beers. You'll get all the tips and tricks about pouring and drinking beer in the authentic cellar of the brewery. This tour takes about 90 minutes and costs 26 euros.

Should I order tickets for the guided tour online or on the spot?

It’s recommended to order the tickets online, using our reservation system. It’s also possible to order in our giftshop or by phone at +32 50 44 42 25. 

Can I modify or cancel my reservation less than 48 hours in advance?

No, unfortunately your tickets can no longer be modified, cancelled or refunded.

How much does a brewery visit cost for children?

The following rates apply for children:

  • 0-5 years: free (no drink included)
  • 6-15 years: €8.50 per child (soft drink included)
How does a brewery tour look like?

The tour begins in the current brewing hall where the various beers are brewed. It continues through the museum and the many floors with brewing installations that have been used by the brewing family over the past centuries. Once at the top you have a unique panoramic view over Bruges. When you come down again, you'll be rewarded with an unfiltered Brugse Zot Blond, Dubbel or Straffe Hendrik Tripel in the brasserie!

How long can I keep a Straffe Hendrik Heritage?

Straffe Hendrik Heritage can be stored for at least 10 years. The flavours evolve over the years.
