Brewery De Halve Maan launches crowdlending campaign to invest in sustainability
Xavier Vanneste revived the brewery back in 2005, with the launch of the speciality beer 'Brugse Zot'. The beer was an immediate succes both in Bruges and far beyond. Since then, the brewery has become one of the fastest growing breweries in our country.
We're not only growing, we are also investing. One of the most successful financings campaign was for our world-famous underground beer pipeline. This beer pipeline connects the brewery and bottling plant. The brewery raised funding for the construction of the pipeline through a crowdfunding campaign.
Now, our brewery wants to further increase its sustainability together with our “friends, fools, family and fans”. De Halve Maan is partnering up with the crowdlending platform WinWinner who is specialised in bringing together companies and investors.
Because of the impending energy crisis and the persistent groundwater shortage, the brewery has the ambition to do its part. In 2018, Brewery De Halve Maan was one of the first breweries to sign the Flemish Green Deal with the aim of reducing its ecological footprint.
To optimise its water and energy consumption, the brewery invests in a water treatment plant for purifying water and producing biogas. Investments are also being made in the installation of solar panels. As a result, the company will be responsible for a part of its own electricity consumption.
With these investments, Brewery De Halve Maan continues on its chosen path of Corporate Social Responsibility.
